After challenging myself to a #GreenDrinkADay for the past week or so I’ve determined this green smoothie recipe is a real keeper. It has just enough sweetness and the combination of ingredients make it taste like a real treat. Plus, the turmeric has a warming effect so it’s not too cooling during the colder mornings. I’m an eyeball it in the Vitamix kind of girl so the recipe reflects that mentality.

A note on turmeric: I buy mine in the spice section. Pick an organic version within your budget and use that in smoothies and such. Buying raw turmeric from the produce section can get pretty pricey. You still get the health benefits (anti inflammatory, antioxidant, etc.) with the dried version without a huge price tag.

Feel free to omit the protein powder if you’re not a protein powder person.  Currently, I’m really enjoying the ‘Smooth Vanilla’ from Garden of Life. It helps keep me fuller longer after my smoothie, and the flavor is a nice compliment to the turmeric and cinnamon in this recipe.

Be sure to tag @LivePlanted on Instagram if you make the ‘Warming Winter Smoothie’. I’d love to see your creations.
