This week I recap my NYC vegan experience & tell you why I think traveling as a vegan is such a fun experience & why getting out of the norm is so powerful. I also share my three must pack essentials to make your travel experience flow better (these have saved me multiple times!). Plus my favorite vegan travel tip for seeing the most of the city you’re visiting in the shortest amount of time. Trust me it’s a fun adventure!

NYC Restaurants:

Two Tablespoons at UrbanSpace Vanderbilt.

This modern ‘food court’ had such a great atmosphere, touting everything from coffee to tacos to pizza in the heart of Midtown Manhattan.  The focus here is on artisanal & chef driven foods delivered in a small space. This would be a great lunch or dinner spot for a group where everyone was feeling like eating different cuisines.

Champs Diner

This Brooklyn Diner was super authentic with it’s black and white checker floors and milkshake heavy menu. Everything on the menu was typical diner fare except it is all vegan. You know patty melts, fries and all day breakfast made the menu. This would be a fantastic spot to hit with non vegans becasue the menu is so familiar.

Urban Vegan Kitchen

This restaurant describes it’s self as ‘semi-sophisticated comfort food’ and I would totally agree. They separate out their menu into ‘smalls’ and ‘bigs’ so you can really mix and match and eat however you like here. Lots of gluten free options and a really great atmosphere with portraits of animals on the walls. Located on Carmine Street in Greenwich Village the neighborhood was worth a stroll too.

Mentioned on the Show:

➜Garden of Life ‘Organic Plant Protein-Grain Free-Smooth Energy’– This stuff is fantastic added to oatmeal or smoothies.  Tastes a little like a chai latte with cinnamon yet it has less than 1g of sugar.
Larabars– a definite travel essential.
Healthy Human Water Bottle– a nice option with the top loop for easy carrying, keeps things hot or cold for 12 hours.  The stainless steel is a better option than a glass water bottle for travel.
Kleen Kanteen Water Bottle– Use for water or coffee, the smaller size is super easy to pack in any bag, leek proof and double insulated for extra protection.

If there is anything you have in your travel essentials arsenal that you think I need to add to mine write me a comment or Instagram & tweet me. I want your feedback!
